There are big things brewing at Comic-Con for the star of ZeptoLab’s hit mobile game Cut The Rope! The cute, lovable green character Om Nom is breaking out of mobile to achieve cross channel stardom. Yesterday, at Comic-Con, ZeptoLab announced that it has signed with Ape Entertainment to develop a digital comic series based on Cut The Rope’s loveable Om Nom character. Also, take a peek at the plush toys that are set to go on sale this September.

We have just been sent a link by our friends at Indigo Pearl to the trailer for the brand new update to Chillingo’s Cut the Rope. They’ve added a whole new box and it looks like a great addition. The update (version 1.3) should roll out any day now! We’ll let you know once the update goes live.

Chillingo’s ‘Cut The Rope’ was recognized last night at the BAFTA Academy of Film and Television (BAFTA) Video Games Awards in London taking top honors in the ‘Best Handheld’ category. This is a great honor indeed since ‘Cut The Rope’ not only beat out DS and PSP titles, but they now hold the distinction of being the very first iPhone game to win the award. Cut the Rope is officially coming to Android. For months, the popular iOS game had been rumored to be released on the Android platform. Alas, the rumor has been proven to be true when ZeptoLab, Cut the Rope’s developer, released a sneak peek today of the game being played on an Android device. Cut the Rope for Android’s release date will be announced at a later date.

For the past year, Chillingo’s popular title Angry Birds had dominated the App Store at the number one position, something that very few publishers and developers have accomplished. Chillingo have used their “formula-to-success” with another title, often being referred to as the next “Angry Birds” of the app store called Cut the Rope. If you thought Angry Birds was good, wait till you get your hands on Cut the Rope.

Chillingo made an announcement this morning that the company will now allow their third party developers to support the “freemium” model of social based games with their Crystal SDK platform. The addition will allow developers to deliver free games and generate revenue via virtual goods, promotions, and more. The company also announced a new massively multiplayer online role-playing (MMORPG) empire building, freemium game called ‘My Kingdom’ which is expected to release in the coming months and we’ve got exclusive screenshots for you!
