Today Time Warner Cable Inc., the biggest pay-television provider in New York City, has begun to pitch phone companies like AT&T and Verizon Wireless on a service that uses its underground cables to carry mobile calls and Web downloads. This will do wonders for easing the congestion on AT&T and Verizon Wireless by data hungry smartphones like the iPhone and Blackberry. If this works out and carries on accross the rest of the nation this could be a great thing for smartphone users as it will speed up connections for data services and who knows even be faster!

Comcast Cable Communications released a free mobile application that will enable its users to access their services such as Digital Voice, Digital Cable, and high-speed Internet using their iPhone or iPod touch. Customers can sync their iPhone contacts with their Comcast Universal Address Book and use their Digital Voice features to view who has called their home phone, listen to voicemails or forward calls from their home phone to their iPhones. The application also features SmartZone inbox features including a combined email/voicemail inbox, sorting/searching features, and voicemail forwarding.
