Valentine Wishes Review for iPhone and iPad

Valentine Wishes has hit the App Store just in time for Valentine’s Day, which takes place on February 14 of this year. There are two versions of the app for iPad and iPhone despite their icons on the App Store making it seem this is a Universal App. Expect similar features, however, outside of a couple different games and cards.

Review
The iPad version of the app comes with four main games that are available in the main menu. They include “Catch it,” “Shoot it,” “Throw it,” and “Drop it.” They are all quite varied and unique, but have one thing in common and that is they are all related to Valentine’s Day. They are also based on a scoring system so you try to get a higher score than your spouse or significant other when playing. Also, as you gain more points, new eCards are unlocked. This is another huge part of the game: winning eCards to send out to friends and family related to the romantic holiday.

Catch it is based on catching falling hearts out of Cupids’ hands. You do this by controlling a floating cloud via tilt. The cloud must intercept the falling hearts before they hit the ground. You have three hearts or lives before the game ends. Shoot it is another game that is part of the package. This game is based on aiming a target at floating hearts that fly upward. It is also based on tilt — to move the target — but there are reload and fire icons that you must tap on either sides of the screen. Throw it is a physic puzzler where you must aim a heart from a pink tank into a Cupid’s carriage. You do this by setting the angle of the heart-launching projectile and then you must set the power bar at just the right amount of force. If you do these things correctly the heart will land into the basket and you will win points. However, the two settings you must set up are based on sliders that go up and down from either side of the screen. You must press both at the right time to get both the power and the angle exactly where you need them to be.

The app is pretty colorful and the games are varied enough to keep you and your significant other playing. The cards are really interesting most of the time with a great design. They can be viewed and sent through e-mail with a couple clicks. They are also a great way of keeping you playing and earning points in the mini games. However, the games are quite casual in nature and more of distractions for the cards than anything else.

Recommendation
This is a great app for couples to share a fun time together before or during Valentine’s Day. It is also recommended for those of you wanting to send out some Valentine’s Day cards to friends. The app is free so you have nothing to lose by checking it out.
