Nukes Review for iPhone and iPad
Do you enjoy watching reruns of WarGames on TV? If so, Nukes may be the game for you. Nukes is a universal app and comes from Solid Jade Inc. It is also a charming yet simple title with personality behind it.
Review
Nukes has a simple premise. You pick a side between Ruskies (Soviets) and Americans. Then you pick a level to play. The game has you advance through a level structure and you can play as any side you want first. The object is to destroy your enemy’s cities by launching nukes at them. This happens while their area of the world or globe rotates and thus makes it harder to line up your launches.
After you launch a nuke the enemy will launch theirs. This means the gameplay is turn based in a way. The explosions, themselves, look pretty neat and satisfying. The game’s overall visual is pretty good overall. The sound quality is pretty good too. However, the game is pretty repetitive and simple. There aren’t many options or ways to throw nukes at all, so you will be repeating the same process over again. The levels also don’t really change all that much and it doesn’t make too much sense for the world to rotate that fast.
Overall, however, this is a neat game and a good pickup for casual gamers. It should provide some moments of fun for the mayhem-obsessed out there and provide a couple minutes of good entertainment while waiting in line at the store. Check it out on the App Store for only $.99.
Recommendation
Nukes is recommended for those into 80s action films, love to see demolish ions or destruction, or fans of catapult-based games like Angry Birds (although there isn’t much of a physics implementation in Nukes).
