The Media Vanguard Awards, now in its second year, honor publishers and broadcasters that are finding innovative, technology-driven means to extend their franchises and connect with audiences in new ways. SPIN Play launched in March 2011 as a new concept in music discovery for the iPad, and has since been featured in Apple’s App Store Hall of Fame and in Apple’s television commercial for the iPad 2—something no other magazine publisher has done to date.

SPIN Play was part of the recent iOS 5 launch as one of the first publishers to fully support Newsstand. In the week following the launch of Newsstand, SPIN Play saw 648 percent more subscriptions sold than the previous ten weeks.
