Cooking Dash Review for iPhone and iPod Touch

Dust Bunnies 011Cooking Dash is a long awaited sequel to Diner Dash and it has got better. The chef has packed up and left to star in a cooking show, and leaves Flo and her Grandma to run the diner. You get into more of a realistic experience as you fry, grill and blend your way to the top of the restaurant game.

Review

So, the story is you (and Grandma) have to cook and serve the customers. They queue up and you seat them by dragging them to the seat you want them to sit at, they view the menu and you make what they want, serve it to them, then collect their dosh and clear their dishes. As the game progresses the pace increases and you get busier and more complicated orders. You can buy new décor and new machines with your hard earned cash. There are 4 different diners and you start afresh with each one. You have a goal to achieve every level but you can go for an expert score. You can earn more money by chaining events and by seating customers in the same colour seat as their outfit. The game becomes quite challenging and it does take a bit of work to get expert on all levels – especially towards the end. I love playing it over again, its not good if it’s too easy.

The graphics show a great improvement from the original and the whole look of the game is very bright and colourful. The screen is busy but it is also detailed. What can I say, it just looks yummy! The graphics are almost mouth watering, I got so hungry whilst playing this game!

You control the actions by tapping the various foods, grills, fryers and customers and they are very simple to use, you soon get the hang of it as the controls are very instinctive. A problem with some of the time management games is that they are a little cramped and they don’t always select what you tell it too, im glad to say that this was not a problem for this game.

The background music is not too intrusive, fairly typical music for this type of game. The great thing about the sound is there is no nasty customer noises, only GOOD sound effects of the food cooking, which is nice! Definitely adds a nice atmosphere to the game getting your mind more involoved in the Cooking Dash world

Recommendation

If you’re a time management fan I would definitely recommend this game, but it is fairly bog standard stuff. There isn’t much in this game that hasn’t been done before, or makes it stick out but is still a lot of fun. It’s reduced launch price of $2.99 (rather than $4.99) makes it even better value.
