Jim Balsillie, Research In Motion co-CEO, doesn’t have the same “there’s an app for that” mentality as Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, has. At the Web 2.0 Summit this week, he stated, “You don’t need an app for the Web,”and adds, “I don’t need a YouTube app to go to YouTube. There’s this view that Web sites need to be re-purposed for mobile and you need a special set of tools to do it. We don’t believe that to be true.”

When you surf over to http://m.youtube.com on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, you’ll notice something different. The site is no longer covered with Flash error messages, but rather a sexy new mobile site that has implemented HTML5 to support all the Apple folks out there (it works great on Android devices too!).

Since last Friday, new iPad 3G owners excited to begin streaming video over the 3G network were met by disappointed when they realized video quality were degraded or simply wouldn’t work over 3G. How could this be? Go to iPadmodo for more.

The latest build of Twidroid Pro (version 2.6.1) for the Android platform is in it’s testing phases with beta users and is set to be released very soon. The version includes stability fixes, image upload issues, and an integration of video uploads directly to YouTube. Look for geo-location support in the future as well. Twidroid Pro sells for $5 through the Android Market.

Flash forward to present day, the Fall of 2009, and we have nearly 100,000 applications (91,000+ as of October 1st) attacking the iTunes App Store with an average of 310 per day, according to 148apps.biz.

With the release of the iPhone 3G S and the iPhone 3.0 software comes the ability to not only shoot 30fps VGA video, but also edit it while on the device.
