Masayoshi Son, Softbank founder and CEO, was so affected by the devastation he saw during his visit to the city of Tamura, a town affected by the Fukushima nuclear disaster, that he decided to make a contribution in the best fashion only a few in his position could provide. Son announced that Softbank will cover the cost to relocate 1,200 people to his hometown in Saga, provide them with jobs, food and transportation for a year.

Starting on December 3rd, Softbank will offer a free 16G iPad WiFi + 3G unit, when you sign up for their two year data plan. This contract amounts to ¥4,725 or $56 each month for the next two years; a rate that costs $31 more than AT&T’S 2GB rate.
