Google released the Android 2.0 Operating System SDK to developers early this morning which includes a handful of new API’s, Bluetooth updates, Searchable SMS and Exchange support, new controls for the build in camera, improved multitouch keyboard, new browser with an easier UI (user interface) and support for HTML5, and much more.
BlackBerry Storm 5.0 Software Update Available

The latest software update for the BlackBerry Storm was released over the weekend, bringing the current build to version 5.0. Customers can pick up the download through RIM’s Desktop Management Software or by visiting www.verizonwireless.com/storm and selecting “Software Download”. Updates to the software include improvements in rotation detection and touch features, SMS and MMS updates, 2G and 3G network stability updates, and a plethora of bug fixes. A patch to fix the SMS vulnerability that cybersecurity researchers, Charlie Miller and Colin Mulliner warned Apple about, is to be patched in an update that will be released on Saturday, according to an O2 spokesperson. “We will be communicating to customers both through the website and proactively,” the spokesperson told BBC News. “We always recommend our customers update their iPhone with the latest software and this is no different.”

Two researchers, Charles Miller and fellow cybersecurity researcher, Collin Mulliner, have found an iPhone bug that could infect phones virally through SMS. The have plans to reveal the still unpatched iPhone bug at the Black Hat cybersecurity conference in Las Vegas today. If you receive a text message with a single square character, you are advised to immediately turn off your iPhone, as they warn it means that someone has used the bug to take over your iPhone.
Skype Releases 1.1 Update, Includes Voicemail and SMS Support

Skype released an update earlier this week for their iPhone application. The latest 1.1 version includes Skype voicemail support and one way SMS text messaging (you can send but not receive). If you are interested in utilizing the Skype voicemail feature, you will need a subscription as with the PC and Mac versions. Additional language support was also added to the update. Available for the Google Android platform, ChompsSMS allows you to customize how your text messaging system receives texts in a more stylized format similar to the Apple iPhone or Mac iChat layout.
