iPhone SMS Patch released Today
A patch to fix the SMS vulnerability that cybersecurity researchers, Charlie Miller and Colin Mulliner warned Apple about, is to be patched in an update that will be released on Saturday, according to an O2 spokesperson. “We will be communicating to customers both through the website and proactively,” the spokesperson told BBC News. “We always recommend our customers update their iPhone with the latest software and this is no different.”Read More

Possible iPhone Virus to be unleashed Thursday
Two researchers, Charles Miller and fellow cybersecurity researcher, Collin Mulliner, have found an iPhone bug that could infect phones virally through SMS. The have plans to reveal the still unpatched iPhone bug at the Black Hat cybersecurity conference in Las Vegas today. If you receive a text message with a single square character, you are advised to immediately turn off your iPhone, as they warn it means that someone has used the bug to take over your iPhone.Read More

Skype Releases 1.1 Update, Includes Voicemail and SMS Support
Skype released an update earlier this week for their iPhone application. The latest 1.1 version includes Skype voicemail support and one way SMS text messaging (you can send but not receive). If you are interested in utilizing the Skype voicemail feature, you will need a subscription as with the PC and Mac versions. Additional language support was also added to the update.
