iPhone Game Startup ngmoco Raises $25 Million in Funding, Acquires Freeverse
TechCrunch reports that iPhone game startup company ngmoco has just picked up $25 million in another round of fundraising and used it to buy out Freeverse, one of the most storied Mac game developers and most recently, iPhone game developers on the block. The two companies were already close as Freeverse went with ngmoco’s Plus+ network for social connections in its games, including Flick Fishing and Moto Thunder. This buyout would put ngmoco in charge of their whole catalog. ngmoco CEO Neil Young says that he plans to take all of Freeverse’s currently paid games and convert them all into the free-to-play model that ngmoco has grown so comfortable with.Read More

Motorola, No Droid Update This Week But Soon
Motorola said they were a bit premature when they dished out the much-anticipated Android 2.1 update announcement on their Facebook page early this week. The Android 2.1 update for the DROID will be coming soon, just not this week as they led people to believe. In an e-mail to PhoneScoop, Verizon said, “The Droid over-the-air software upgrade is expected to rollout soon. It will automatically be pushed to phones when ready and Verizon Wireless customers will only have to accept the free download for continued use and enjoyment of this feature packed device.”Read More

Hulu Coming Soon an to iPad Near You
An “industry insider” has revealed to the folks at TechCrunch that Hulu, the popular tv site, is already working on an iPad version of its website and should be ready to launch in time for the iPad’s release next month. No details have been given whether this will come as an app or a mobile version of Hulu coded using HTML5 rather than Flash.Read More

Appmodo iPhone Application Gets Updated
In the summer of 2009, we released a free application for the iPhone and iPod Touch which brought all of the latest mobile application news to your finger tips. The app however was bland and lacked any artistic design (although it was built solid). One week ago, we brought you news about a company called AppMakr who create iPhone apps for either $150 or $500, depending if you want to sell your application for free, remove brandings, etc. We proceeded with AppMakr to test it out and one week later, we have a re-built and published app that’s free in the App Store. The process however, was not 100% smooth.Read More
iPhone’s High Traffic Strains O2, UK’s London Network
O2, UK’s wireless provider has admitted that they too are facing network woes, due to the high traffic volume from iPhone users. For the last six months they’ve been experiencing problems and some customers have not been able to make calls or transmit data due to the strains. O2 has seen an 18 times increase in data use since the beginning of the year, but are now accounting for the extra stress with additional capacity.Read More
