Austin based vring.ly today announces vring.ly 1.1, their free app for iPhone and iPod touch. vring.ly is a new way to send personal video messages to your friends, without the pitfalls of traditional MMS video messages. Users may send high quality “vrings” to multiple contacts with the touch of a button. The service works over both WiFi and 3G, and vrings are delivered via multiple mediums: SMS messages, e-mail, push notifications for other vring.ly users, and even calls to landlines.

BlackBerry Storm 5.0 Software Update Available

The latest software update for the BlackBerry Storm was released over the weekend, bringing the current build to version 5.0. Customers can pick up the download through RIM’s Desktop Management Software or by visiting www.verizonwireless.com/storm and selecting “Software Download”. Updates to the software include improvements in rotation detection and touch features, SMS and MMS updates, 2G and 3G network stability updates, and a plethora of bug fixes. Our very own Chris Duke came across a new issue with iPhone MMS since it’s release earlier yesterday morning. When trying to send an MMS to a friend in the United Kingdom, the message failed to send. The wait is over guys! Simply plug in your iPhone to your iTunes, select your device and click on Check for Update and Download and Install AT&T’s updated carrier settings. It takes about 30 seconds, maybe even less.

Although the company will spend $18 billion dollars of its profit this year alone to help upgrade and maintain its 3G connectivity across the United States, which can be contributed to the lengthy delay of MMS for the Apple iPhone, the networks are not all that AT&T was upgrading. First came yesterday’s announcement about MMS coming to the iPhone on September 25th. Today, AT&T released a video clip featuring “Seth the Blogger Guy” explaining the explosion in data growth over the past several years and how AT&T has been working to expand its infrastructure to handle the demands on its network.

EXCLUSIVE: A source with AT&T informed Appmodo today that MMS for the iPhone will be coming mid July, not “the end of the summer” as previously reported. The highly anticipated tethering option will also be delivered towards the end of July with pricing around $55 per month, not $70 as suspected across the net.
