Temple Run creator Imangi Studios today announced that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Lima Sky, the developer of the Doodle Jump video games franchise, for a total of $1 billion in an all-cash deal. The agreement also provides for an additional $200 million earn-out cash based on the achievement of certain milestones.

Doodle Jump, the perennially acclaimed chart-topping mobile gaming sensation from Lima Sky, turns 4 years old today. March 15, 2009 seems like prehistoric times for mobile gaming, and only the very best have remained best sellers. Far more than a simple anniversary, this event is a fan-made milestone. It marks more than 5 billion games of Doodle Jump played.

Lima Sky has unleashed a massive free content update to their wildly popular mobile game, Doodle Jump. This is the largest update to the game since it launched over three years ago, and it brings a Ninja Theme with new characters and power-ups, with the ability to purchase upgrades in a new in-game store.

Lima Sky, developer of Doodle Jump, have announced that it has surpassed 10 million paid downloads. Today, also marks the 2nd year anniversary of Doodle Jump’s release to the App Store. The developer further revealed that they are working on a Doodle Jump for iPad game, which will include brand new content and expanding the franchise even more by bringing Doodle Jump to the XBox 360 as a XBLA Kinect game. Doodle Jump has become the best selling iPhone game title in the App Store, bringing in over 4 million downloads to date. At $0.99 cents, that’s certainly a return on investment for game developer, Igor Pusenjak of Lima Sky. Driven by word of mouth grassroots marketing, Doodle Jump has been a huge success showing up in other popular titles such as Finger Physics and good ole Pocket God. Congrats Igor!
