Over the weekend, famed iDevice hacker George Hotz, aka Geohot, made a public appeal for donations to his legal defense fund against Sony, who is suing him for jailbreaking his PS3. Early this morning, he announced the closure of the first round of donations. Apparently, he has received enough.

In a recent lawsuit AT&T, Research in Motion and a number of other mobile companies are all the defendant in a patent suit that includes several smartphone related technologies that include email syncing and Bluetooth connectivity. This new lawsuit was filed earlier this month in US District Court in Texas by a company called SmartPhone Technologies LLC.

Nokia is pulling all the stops in its patent fight with Apple. On top of the lawsuit they’ve already filed against Apple, the Finnish company has now added a complaint with the International Trade Commission, alleging that “virtually all” of Apple’s products infringe one of seven patents covering user interfaces, cameras, antennas, and power management.

Verizon’s lawyers filed a response to AT&T’s false advertising lawsuit and it appears that nobody is backing down in this one.

Apple and AT&T are being sued in Louisiana over the lack of MMS available for iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users running iPhone 3.0 software.
