AT&T Delivers Warning to MyWi Users, Stop Tethering for Free or Face the Consequences

AT&T is on the prowl! iPhone owners who use MyWi, a popular jailbreak application enabling owners to tether without paying for an additional plan, are instructed to stop by March 27th or suffer the consequences. AT&T is sending SMS messages and/or emails out to MyWi users telling them to cease by this date or automatically be enrolled into the DataPro 4GB plan whether they want to or not. MyWi iPhone owners who had been grandfathered into the unlimited plan will lose that privilege once the switch is made to the DataPro 4GB plan.
Geohot Closes Donations, For Now

Over the weekend, famed iDevice hacker George Hotz, aka Geohot, made a public appeal for donations to his legal defense fund against Sony, who is suing him for jailbreaking his PS3. Early this morning, he announced the closure of the first round of donations. Apparently, he has received enough.
iBooks Error in 4.2.1 Jailbroken Devices Fixed

Those who have an untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak for their iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad have found themselves unable to read books they have legally purchased within iBooks. Trying to open a DRM-protected book will produce the following error message: “There is a problem with the configuration of your iDevice. Please restore with iTunes and reinstall iBooks.” Deleting iBooks and reinstalling an older version will not help resolve this issue. Luckily, @comex has come up with a fix.

Network World reports that Apple has unexpectedly done away with the iOS 4.0′s jailbreak detection API, which comes as good news to many of those who have jailbroken their iPhones. As of now, there’s no way to check if a user’s iPhone has been jailbroken, making it susceptible to malware.

This time it seems that they are removing any account affiliated with the hackers.The report came from iPhone hackers Sherif Hashim and iH8sn0w who created a jailbreak program for the 3.1.3 firmware.
