Flash 10.1 Now Available for Google Nexus One

Google announced this afternoon at an Android/Adobe event that Nexus One owners can finally get their hands on Flash 10.1. The app is currently available in the Android Marketplace and is only a 5MB download. As the description reads, you can now “visit m.flash.com for cool Flash sites”. Android 1, iPhone 0.

There’s a very interesting story over at Engadget this morning involving policy issues that existed within the Android Marketplace and the (initial) approval of racist content involving the Nazi’s that was there. After some controversy arose on the net, Google then pulled the app due to “a violation of Android content policy” but PC Magazine found out that the content policy for developers within the Android Marketplace forbids “promotions of hate or incitement of violence, pornography, obscenity, nudity or sexual activity”. The event challenges Google’s policing of their marketplace, something that Apple has faced huge opposition for.

Firefox Available for Android 2.0 OS

Firefox has released a 2.0 “alpha” build of their web browser for the Android 2.0 operating system dubbed “Fennec”. Firefox developer Vladimir Vukićević said the build is a “debut release with unoptimized memory utilization and some quirks rebooting the app when started and when add-ons are installed”. The app also uses OpenGL ES 2.0 which should help render some awesome pages, quickly.
