Facebook iPhone App Gets 3.2 Update, Warning: Adjust Your Privacy Settings

The almighty public information whores, Facebook, have released a new update for their iPhone application bringing the build to version 3.2 which allows for background photo uploading as well as Places, a new feature for the site. Places is similar to FourSquare, where you can tag (or be tagged by friends!) of where you are which is somewhat disturbing.

Our comments system has been going through some refinements over the past couple of weeks. Earlier this month we added the ability to “Like” each story using your Facebook account without exposing your personal account data. Now we’ve added the ability to login and comment on our stories using a Facebook, Twitter, OpenID, Wordpress or IntenseDebate account for single sign on (SSO) use. Videos that are new or have recently been uploaded into Facebook (YouTube videos were already supported) can now be viewed on your iPad and iPhone using Safari, thanks to their recent adoption of HTML5. Previously, Facebook videos were Flash-based and since neither iDevice supported Flash, users were unable to view them.

The App Store page on Facebook went live yesterday, perhaps to coincide with iTunes 9.1 update. Becoming a fan of the App Store allows you access to the entire store. Perks include the added ability to view top paid/free apps and sales charts across different categories.
