Revere based independent developer James Hollender has released version 2.4 of his iNutrient suite of 8 apps for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad: Vitamin K, iCarbs, iProteins, iCholesterol, iFiber, iSatFat, iSugars and iCals to provide backup/restore of the user’s personal nutrient intake data. Each app allows users to easily determine nutrient quantity in hundreds of different food servings, with information derived from the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference.

App developers should be grinning right now as Verizon Wireless has just announced that the “iPhone 4 will be available early next month”. This means the world’s largest cell phone carrier will add millions (93M currently) of customers to Apple’s iOS database, which means it should double the profits for current developers.

If you are a power Android user and are constantly worried about how much data your device is consuming, there’s an app for that called 3G Watchdog. All you have to do is download the app through the Android Market (you can follow a barcode link here) and choose your settings (daily, weekly, monthly data, billing cycle). The app includes customizable alerts and even includes a home screen widget to let you monitor data. There’s another app called Apndroid that works with 3G Watchdog to limit your data usage and actually turn it off when you are about to break your limits. Pretty cool!

Today Time Warner Cable Inc., the biggest pay-television provider in New York City, has begun to pitch phone companies like AT&T and Verizon Wireless on a service that uses its underground cables to carry mobile calls and Web downloads. This will do wonders for easing the congestion on AT&T and Verizon Wireless by data hungry smartphones like the iPhone and Blackberry. If this works out and carries on accross the rest of the nation this could be a great thing for smartphone users as it will speed up connections for data services and who knows even be faster!

As you recall, the FCC has asked Apple, AT&T, and Google to answer some important questions about the iPhone App Store approval process, what role AT&T plays in rejecting apps, and specifically what happened to cause Google Voice to get rejected and 3rd party Google Voice apps removed. Apparently Google isn’t only being questioned as a “victim”. As it turns out, they have some explaining to do in their own right, says Apple Insider.
