The first ever, “Consumer Reports App Development Contest” has begun. The competition is aimed at giving software developers, development practitioners, and mobile enthusiasts the opportunity to create the next innovative Consumer Reports smartphone application. The press release states, “The winner of the contest, who will be chosen in part by public vote, will be awarded a $10,000 Consumer Reports contract to fully develop their winning app.”

Consumer Reports recently let their engineer hounds on the iPhone 4 for some serious testing. Their finding: there is a definite reception issue with the iPhone 4, due to touching one’s hand to the lower left side of the phone.
