Ann Arbor, Michigan – Independent software development team appforthat today is pleased to introduce NYCsmokeOUT 1.0 for iOS, their new app designed to help smokers comply with NYC’s Smoke-Free Parks, Beaches, Boardwalks, and Pedestrian Plazas Law, which takes effect on May 23, 2011. The app automatically detects the user’s location and provides precise information regarding the location and boundaries of outdoor No-Smoking Zones. NYCsmokeOUT provides visual feedback and friendly notifications for both smoking and non-smoking New Yorkers throughout the five boroughs. Smokers will now know where they can and cannot smoke outdoors. Non-smokers can help the City achieve its’ goal of citizen-enforcement by alerting violators of the presence of No-Smoking Zones. Included are thousands of outdoor, public spaces where smoking will now carry a fifty-dollar fine.
