Hit-Game Labyrinth for Blackberry Now Supports Torch

Labyrinth, the popular tilt-based maze game that has been in the app store space for a while now has just updated for Blackberry Torch users to enjoy. Available on BlackBerry AppWorld, Labyrinth is available for download with 10-free levels! Labyrinth is also available RIM’s two touch-screen only phones, the Blackberry Storm and Blackberry Storm 2.
BlackBerry App World Goes 2.0 With New Updates

Research In Motion have released a huge 2.0 update to the BlackBerry App World including the removal of the $2.99 minimum price for paid apps (allowing developers to now charge $0.99), the addition of carrier billing or paying via credit card, a change in revenue split for developers to a 70/30 ratio from the original 80/20, as well as a new BlackBerry ID function that allows you to process credit card payments and move apps to any new device much easier.

Anyone that looks at the App Store today is simply blown away by the amount of developers that exist in the community. The expansion of over 225,000 applications within a few years is simply amazing, something that has not been experienced in any other industry. Many developers focus on gaming and utility applications catered towards specific users but a company by the name of ISBX is entering the mobile applications octagon, tackling apps at the enterprise level to improve workplace efficiency and increase communications.

UAE: No More Blackberry Services Starting October 11

Earlier today, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the United Arab Emirates announced that all Blackberry data services (Blackberry Messenger, email, and web-browsing) will be suspended as of October 11th. The main reason for this suspension is an apparent security concern, as the TRA is attempting to get Blackberry services “in line with UAE telecommunications regulations”.

When Apple’s Steve Jobs was explaining iPhone 4′s signal-strength problems — or “antennagate” — during today’s press conference, he spent a little time comparing iPhone 4′s performance to other smartphones in the market. Jobs ran an experiment on the HTC Droid Eris (Android), the Samsung Omnia II, and the Blackberry Bold 9700. When he held all three in the “sensitive area” — the lower left-hand corner, they showed a lower reception reading than without the hand.

According to a new article at Business Insider, HP wasn’t the only company eyeballing Palm before they were acquired. A source “familiar with the negotiations” has leaked that Apple, Google, and Blackberry-maker Research in Motion (RIM) were mixed up in a bidding war for the company that brought us webOS.

BlackBerry’s App World Hits 1 Million Downloads Per Day

Research In Motion are celebrating their first birthday for the BlackBerry App World which is generating about 1 Million downloads per day with 20 million registered users. While those numbers are great for RIM, they are still a small fraction of Apple’s App Store which touts 10 to 20 million downloads per day (over 1 Billion in it’s first year). Happy Birthday BlackBerry’s App World!
