New iPod Touch Photoshop Gaffes from Apple

After Apple introduced the new generation of iPod Touch last week, there have been some marketing photos released as well. Some sleuth-like readers over at Engadget caught some interesting, and very obvious, missteps in Apple’s iPod Touch photos.

According to a new study from Quantacast, a marketing analytics company, Google’s mobile OS Android is eating up market share from previous top dogs Apple’s iOS and RIM’s Blackberry OS. If you like accelerometer-based games, like Labyrinth 2, then Dark Nebula – Episode Two is definitely up your alley. It takes the Labyrinth-style games and flips it on its head, as you must navigate your “pinball” through a crazy series of levels, avoiding potholes, cliffs, trap doors, bombs, lasers, and the like!

Apple just announced the company will be holding a “Special Event” next Wednesday, September 1st up in San Francisco at 10AM PST. Judging by the lead image they sent out, it sounds like it will be music related but we can also hope to see a new Apple TV, iPod refresh, iTunes updates, and possibly Apple TV App related info. What we don’t want to see is the return of John Mayer…

OpenFeint, one of mobile gaming’s foremost social-gaming platforms, has updated its functionality with version 2.6. Users who play games running the new version will be able to recommend apps to friends via SMS from within the app. Even if your friends don’t have the same smartphone OS, you can text a recommendation and a link to the Apple App Store or Android Market.

Non Existent Google Police Pull Nazi Android Theme After Controversy, Apple Policing Questioned

There’s a very interesting story over at Engadget this morning involving policy issues that existed within the Android Marketplace and the (initial) approval of racist content involving the Nazi’s that was there. After some controversy arose on the net, Google then pulled the app due to “a violation of Android content policy” but PC Magazine found out that the content policy for developers within the Android Marketplace forbids “promotions of hate or incitement of violence, pornography, obscenity, nudity or sexual activity”. The event challenges Google’s policing of their marketplace, something that Apple has faced huge opposition for.

Apple has been dealing with piracy and fake knock off iPhones from day 1, but as the smartphone division becomes more popular, those who are replicating the phones are getting much more ‘visually’ accurate with their re-creations and even more cheap with their claims.
