As one of the biggest shops for licensed Angry Birds products, Angry Bird Spot, and website Angry Birds Addiction announced the start of a contest this month with an Angry Birds puzzle games giveaway. The contest is open to everyone to particpate. To enter this month-long contest, participants are required to do certain actions which you can find on Angry Birds Addiction online. At the end of August, two lucky winners will be randomly selected from the contestants.

A famous Israeli television series, Eretz Nehederet (“A Wonderful Country”), returns for it’s 8th season next month, gaining over 50 percent viewership of the television network for the country. You can think of it like an SNL in Israel. Apparently Israeli’s are huge fans of Chillingo/Rovio’s Angry Birds franchise and have produced a parody of the popular pigs versus birds called “Angry Birds Peace Treaty”. Rovio are pleasing Android owners today with a recent update to Angry Birds which includes 45 new levels, a new angry bird, and an increased storyline. The developers also included QVGA support and fixed some graphics issues, but an apparent bug allowing you to skip levels without completing them and entering new worlds still has not been fixed. Spoiler alert.

Over the weekend, Rovio Mobile tweeted that Angry Birds for the Android platform received over 1 million downloads on Saturday, October 16th. The increase in downloads placed a load on GetJar’s servers, resulting in a message for users “The page you are looking for is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later”. Very impressive, congrats Rovio!
