Chipmunk Physics, the high performance 2D physics engine popular on the iPhone, has reached version 6.0. Chipmunk has recently been seen in many top iOS hits, including Cars 2, Feed Me Oil, I Dig It, Alice in New York, and Zombie Smash! This week at QuakeCon 2010, John Carmack (creator of huge titles such as Quake, Wolfenstein 3D and Doom) showed off a demo of RAGE on an iPhone 4 at a brilliant 60 frames per second refresh ratio… amazing. Carmack even states that it “runs great on an original 2G iPhone” which speaks volumes considering the lack of power for the old iDevice. The game is said to be available in the App Store sometime this Fall.
