2011 IndieCade Game Finalists Announced

Thirty-six independent games have been selected as finalists for the 2011 IndieCade Festival, where they will be exhibited from Oct. 8 – 9, 2011 in downtown Culver City, Calif. Developers of the finalists are invited to a Red Carpet Awards ceremony where 10 awards will be presented. The games and developers are listed in the press release below:

As of last month OpenTable has seated more than 10 million diners through mobile, spending an estimated $400 million at partner restaurants. Currently OpenTable offers seven apps and a mobile optimized site, which together account for 11.5 percent of all diners seated via OpenTable in North America during the first quarter of 2011. At today’s Think Beyond event in San Francisco, HP unveiled the HP Veer, Pre 3 and TouchPad. The Veer is a credit card sized webOS phone, the Pre3 – the premier phone for professionals and last, but not least, the TouchPad, a 9.7 inch tablet running HP webOS.

Palm reached a huge milestone recently, surpassing the 100 millionth mark in webOS apps downloaded. This number was a result of all the apps downloaded from its webOS App Catalog, web distribution and beta feeds. Although it took a year and a half to accomplish, this is indeed quite a feat for the webOS platform.

Supreme Court Gives Police the Right to Check Text Messages Without a Warrant

Yes, that is correct. The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of permitting police officers to search your phone’s text message archives for any incriminating information without a search warrant. According to their ruling, phone searches fall in the same line as if the police were to search through your pockets or handbags, as they put it, “incidental” to a lawful arrest and therefore does not require any such permits under the 14th Amendment.
