The polaris office app has done far more than just provide a way to view all the office formats on a mobile device, they have brought in the full list of the most popular features for these powerful programs into the phone or tablet.

Presselite, the developer of several subway guide applications for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, has launched two applications for Windows Phone 7. The applications, London Tube and New York Subway, are now available on Microsoft’s Zune Marketplace.

Tapulous, part of Disney Mobile, has made an announcement this morning that Katy Perry’s Revenge iPhone app has gotten an update including Katy Perry’s new single, “Firework” as well as the integration of Microsoft’s search engine, Bing, so players can easily search for the artists’ lyrics. The sponsorship by Bing marks the first time Tapulous has included a title sponsor for an app. Katy Perry Revenge by Bing is for free for a limited time.

Microsoft has finally released a creative (and funny) advertisement for their upcoming Windows 7 Phone which is set for release on November 8th. The ad focuses on how our culture is distracted by mobile devices, but the catch is that those devices have been primarily the iPhone, followed by Android and BlackBerry devices. Microsoft hopes to jump onto the bandwagon with their Windows 7 phone but does the company really think it’s going to take off when the market share is dominated by RIM, Apple and Google?

Microsoft’s has just posted a new job listing, seeking a principle program manager, who can “bring Xbox Live-enabled games to Windows Mobile.” I have to say I am a little shocked that it took them this long to start making moves with Xbox.

Microsoft will attempt to enter the mobile applications industry with Apple, Sprint, and BlackBerry by opening up the Windows Marketplace to developers later this month on July 27. Public users will get access to the marketplace “later this year” when the new Windows Mobile 6.5 version launches as well.
