Apple Confirms iPad Pre-Orders Begin Tomorrow, 5:30 a.m. PT/8:30 am. ET

Apple just confirmed that it will begin accepting online pre-orders for the iPad at 5:30 a.m. Pacific Time/8:30 a.m. Eastern Time tomorrow. According to Apple’s prior announcement, U.S. customers will be able to pre-order both the Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + 3G models of the device, or reserve a Wi-Fi-only model for pick up at an Apple retail store. Apple will officially launch the Wi-Fi-only version of the iPad in the U.S. on Saturday, April 3, with Wi-Fi + 3G models expected to ship in late April.

Apple Removes Rumored iPad Features?

A few weeks ago, some of you might remember hearing about a rumor that the iPad could have a front facing camera. This is a feature that a lot can agree should have been a stock option on the iPad and even on the iPhone. When iPhone 3.2 beta 3 SDK came out Macrumors did some digging around and was able to find that the SDK had a built in API support to test if the iPad had a front facing camera, zoom and a camera flash. This would also help quantify a rumor that the iPhone was soon to have video chat.

Barnes & Noble eReader for iPad Underway

Barnes & Noble have officially announced they’re making a version of B&N eReader for the iPad. This addition will give readers access to the 1 million+ books, newspapers and magazines purchasable through the B&N eBookstore, and any content purchased for their nook will be accessible. They gave no detail as to how it will differ from the iPhone version, except that it’s “designed specifically for the iPad”.

Quirky unveiled its new Cloak case for the Apple iPad. Sporting an office folder-like design, the Cloak case is made from non-slip rubber construction, with plastic on the hinge mechanisms and support braces. The iPad will slide into the case from the top, and is completely protected when the case is shut. Furthermore, the case can also be used to prop the iPad up on a flat surface by either folding back the front cover or using the plastic support brace located on the case’s inside cover.
