According to a recent report by ReadWriteMobile, it is projected that the ever growing mobile applications market will continue to rise from its current state of 10.9 billion downloads to an astonishing 76.9 billion downloads by 2014, generating a whopping $35 billion in revenue worldwide.

Dropbox for BlackBerry has been updated to version 1.0.37 over the weekend. According to CrackBerry, the newest changelog doesn’t appear to have changed from the last update, but the latest update should solve the issues users were experiencing with connections and permissions seen in previous builds.

Jim Balsillie, Research In Motion co-CEO, doesn’t have the same “there’s an app for that” mentality as Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, has. At the Web 2.0 Summit this week, he stated, “You don’t need an app for the Web,”and adds, “I don’t need a YouTube app to go to YouTube. There’s this view that Web sites need to be re-purposed for mobile and you need a special set of tools to do it. We don’t believe that to be true.”

MovieTickets.com has just release their app for the BlackBerry. Movie fans will now be able to purchase tickets, browse films, view posters and watch movie trailers from their device. The app also uses the GPS to find the closest theater near you.

The US National Basketball Association (NBA) is launching a free social location game later this month called Turnstile, where users can check-in to NBA games with their iPhone, Android, or BlackBerry smartphone. The app will also work with NBA Game Time to sync game stats and video highlights. Users will also have the ability to notify their friends on Facebook and Twitter of their status’s using location based networks such as Foursquare and Gowalla.
