Appmodo iPhone Application Gets Updated

In the summer of 2009, we released a free application for the iPhone and iPod Touch which brought all of the latest mobile application news to your finger tips. The app however was bland and lacked any artistic design (although it was built solid). One week ago, we brought you news about a company called AppMakr who create iPhone apps for either $150 or $500, depending if you want to sell your application for free, remove brandings, etc. We proceeded with AppMakr to test it out and one week later, we have a re-built and published app that’s free in the App Store. The process however, was not 100% smooth.

The actual price of $150 does not include any updates, that is a one time submission and this was not clearly defined on their website. AppMakr did give us a free promo code to make our updates, since this was an error on their behalf. Their company branding is also included in the app title, automatically added to the description, and added to the contact info about the app itself, which is also not clearly defined upon purchasing. However, at the $150 price point, the company does take care of any bugs that exist with the app-which is a cool feature.

With all of that aside, you can pick up our newly designed, RSS driven iPhone application in the App Store for FREE. We also added the ability to view our Twitter account, and filter news topics from Android, BlackBerry, Palm, iPhone, Games, and more.

I tried AppMakr and they definitely need to make some things more obvious and fix the workflow issue when creating a new App. I ended up having to pay twice to get my App moving forward due to the fact that they don't allow you to modify your App after you've paid. It's very VERY confusing. I think it's a great service, and hopefully they will work out the kinks and add new features to make this more viable for more people.

Too bad you didn't check out UBuildApp.com first. It's a lot more capable and costs less.

      Dear Ed,

Thank you for your spam comment. We actually just checked out the website and tested out an app and the user interface is absolutely horrible and in no way would we recommend that website for anyone to build an app. The better of the two is AppMakr, which is still not perfect. Thank you for your contribution to the site though!

      Jason
