Background CheckThat’s right, Background Check anyone right from your iPhone for FREE! Literally billions of public records right at your fingertips. Use the Background Check App to search people and check their Criminal History, Property Records, Current Contact Info, Relatives, Neighbors, and more! Ever wish you could be your own detective? Well, now you can!

BeenVerified just released a very cool free app called Background Check App and its currently free in the app store. With this free app you can do up to three free background checks on anyone in the US. There is a subscription available if you want to check more but if you are happy with your three free checks a week this app will remain free for you. I tested it on myself and to be honest I was very impressed with the info it pulled. This app is defiantly worth taking a look at.

I found that I was able to get a lot more records on someone that I had ever got using some of the other free services out there. The app only prompts you to pay once you have completed your three searches for the week but when I tested it on my name I found addresses I had forgot I even lived at and most of the info was current. I have used several different background services in the past and never has a free one given this much info plus its on my iPhone so overall I am pretty happy with this app.

  • Concerned Privacy

This is a trap for the unwary. These data dumps are really data junk. The data is of very little use to someone on a date, etc, because of all of the holes in the databases used, but of great value to stalkers and sexual offenders. Unfortunately, the criminal data in these things that a person would use to protect themselves is full of holes, but the data that a stalker needs such as addresses, etc is not bad. Although the data is public, the fact that new technology has made it easy to aggregate and disseminate is raising new privacy issues. I don’t think public agencies envisioned that public data could be this available and so much money could be made. I would not be surprised to see legislation to shut down these sites, as well as removal of identifiers and the data itself. I think public agencies are going to find ways to limit the data in the future. Making records public does not mean that it has to be so easily assessable so that innocent citizens are put at risk and identity theft becomes much easier.

I agree with Concerned Privacy. I certainly do not agree with apps like this either being available to consumers either. They take stalking technology to a new level. In a different era this may have been ok but now there are too many deviate characters out there. Imagine some young lady out at a night club and gives a guy her name only to brush him off and to find him later at her doorstep in the middle of the night!? This is scary stuff and Apple should remove this app immediately before becomes a victim.
