Lumosity Launches Android App Expanding Mobile Presence
Lumosity, a leading brain training and neuroscience research company, today announced its Android app, expanding its mobile presence following the launch of its iPad app and re-launch of its iPhone app last year. Currently, nearly half of all new Lumosity user registrations and game plays come from mobile. This year, Lumosity plans to invest heavily in mobile by expanding to new languages and increasing its mobile games library.
“We’re excited to launch our Android app, which will allow us to reach more users and provide them with a convenient and fun way to train with Lumosity from anywhere at any time,” said Kunal Sarkar, CEO of Lumosity. “Our goal is to create the best, most accessible brain training experience, and with Android reaching 80 percent of the smartphone market share worldwide, launching on Android is an important step toward that goal.”
Lumosity’s iPhone and iPad apps have consistently held the top spots in the Education category of U.S. App Store, with the iPhone app reaching No. 1 in Education in 72 countries and the iPad app reaching No. 1 in Education in 111 countries. The apps also have an average 5-star rating in the iTunes App Store from more than 82,000 iPhone and 37,000 iPad customer reviews.
Mobile and internationalization are priorities for Lumosity this year, and the company plans to launch in French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese. In addition, Lumosity plans to expand its mobile game library by importing more games from its web app, as well as beginning mobile-first game development. To support this growth, Lumosity plans to hire 50 new employees by the end of the year.
