A shopping list can help you stick to a budget but a price book can help reduce that budget, says T.R. Baillargeon of the GrayWorks.
A price book is a means to track changes in the price and size of products you frequently buy so you can save money by 1) identifying sale patterns and seasonal pricing shifts, 2) determining a buy price lower than the shelf price, and 3) calculating and comparing unit pricing.
ValueTracker makes it easy and convenient to create a color-coded shopping list and maintain a price book. Simply create a list of stores where you shop. For each store create a list of products you frequently buy. Include the product name, size, price, purchase date, and photo. Update the price and size of a product whenever either changes. These updates are kept in a chronological Tracking List. This is the key to identifying sale patterns and seasonal pricing shifts so you can determine a buy price that is lower than the shelf price.
The shopping list will automatically update the total of your purchases for changes in quantity and price so there’ll be no surprises when checking out. It will also maintain a count of how many items need to be purchased and decrease that count as items are checked off the list.
ValueTracker includes a Unit Pricing Calculator so you can compute and compare the unit prices of up to four products at a time and a Search feature so you can compare the price of a product between all the stores where you have listed it.
