Kegel Aerobics 1.2 for iOS – Cosmopolitan Magazine Download of the Month

Miami Beach, Florida – Dr. Herb Ross, CEO of Coach on the Spot Productions, today is pleased to announce that Kegel Aerobics for iOS has been named the Cosmopolitan Magazine Download of the Month for June 2013. Dr. Ross created the app in response to research indicating that while most women were familiar with Kegel exercises for the pelvic floor muscles, only a small percentage practiced the exercises regularly. The app serves as a combination of personal trainer, physiotherapist, and coach to help women achieve the many benefits of Kegels. These benefits have been scientifically proven, and may include: improved sex life, prevention of pelvic organ prolapse, and reduced urinary incontinence and distress.

“Our surveys show that although women know these exercises, they primarily do short contractions and releases,” stated Dr. Ross. “They do not do long contractions, and they do them whenever it might occur to them. Doing pelvic floor muscle exercises haphazardly does not build strong, toned muscles.” In addition, “Doing Kegel exercises with a full bladder or while emptying your bladder can actually weaken the muscles, as well as lead to incomplete emptying of the bladder – which increases the risk of a urinary tract infection.”

Kegel Aerobics for iOS features nine progressively more challenging levels, each of which includes verbal instructions, graphical cues for contraction and release, and a progress bar that measures the percentage of reps completed. Each level includes a carefully constructed workout routine that includes short, medium, and long contractions, as well as contractions and releases of mixed duration.

The National Association For Continence is a national, private, non-profit organization, and it works as a partner with Kegel Aerobics in helping to educate the public. In her editorial this June, “Get That App and Get Active Again”, Nancy Muller, PhD and Executive Director of NAFC stated, “Like other muscles throughout our body, pelvic floor muscles are prone to weaken and atrophy if not exercised and used regularly. Women, more so than men, appear to be less motivated to stick with a pelvic muscle exercise routine. Women also have greater difficulty identifying these muscles. Its estimated by clinicians that as many as half of all women who initially try to do the contractions without instruction do not do them correctly. This app takes away the guess work and the need to post reminders around the house or in your car. Built into the function is a reminder signal right on the smart phone housing the app.”
