There are several steps you have to perform in order to open up the garden. First you must fulfill certain criteria (objectives and skills) in order to gain the ability to upgrade your house itself (ie. garden, larger rooms, etc. not just buy furniture). When you do this you'll see a company by the name of Jerry's Quality Renovations move into town. They will set up business and offer house upgrades. At this time you can purchase those upgrades from by build menu. Note you will also need $1,000 for to purchase the upgrade.

In order you garden you will need to buy some seeds from the Hobby Shop as well as fertilizer to help it grow faster. You can then (after completing the objectives) build a garden within the build mode but you must achieve your first house upgrade first.

Just play the game, learn new skills, earn money, and you will open up that first upgrade for the house.

I asked EA and are waiting to hear back on that. So far there's no word of cheats but keep checking back for further details.

As far as relationships go, try boasting about your skills like cooking or fishing, as well as telling jokes. Those create friendships really fast.

Update #2. I went to both Walter and Kia and gave them different types of fish and in return, received $200 each. I also bugged my boss (Ruth) into promoting my Sim to vice president and then mayor as a politician. This allowed me to collect $1,000 fairly quickly and upgrade the house/earn an achievement.

How do you cook? My sim is starving! I went and bought a recipe for ham and eggs, then went to the Quickmart and bought ham and eggs. Immediately I went back to my house and it says "You do not have enough/proper ingredients."
It has done this multiple times with multiple recipes.

How do you give them the fish? I cannot figure this out at all. There does not appear to be an option to give things in your inventory.

I'm not sure what you are referring to. Could you please clarify?

First you have to become friends and use romance actions until you "bud romance" with the Sim. Then under the romance category you will have various actions such as "hot smooch" and "woo hoo". Do this and you will eventually reach "budding romance" and "dating". Woo hoo is then available.

If you want t sell our fish, go to the market a select shop. Use our minus button on the fish inventory and you will be able to sell your stock. P.S. you can do the same with the vegetables you grow in your garden

Once you play for a while it says new upgrades are available. You have to have at least 1,200 dollars to upgrade your house. Yes, you can make your house bigger. That's what the upgrade does. go outside to a brown area outside your house. there will be sticks sticking up out of the ground. the sticks are where all you can grow things so click on one of them and select the "plant seeds" option and select which seeds. from there, you can click on them again and select "tend to" and you'll water them and they'll get bigger. also you slap a sim by being rude and "insulting" them and then the option to slap them will show up under the "be rude" function when talking to a sim. to woohoo, a guy posted a reply to that earlier…

WooHoo Tip. I too was frustrated when my sim couldnt start a romance with NINA or any other single girl. I almost gave up until I started flirting with Maggie(who was already married). Within a few minutes she became my friend,best friend, and finally a budding romance started. Unfortunately as soon as I had WOOHOO with her the sim had a new wish to start a new romantic relation. So I tried my luck with Jill(again married). And that worked too. Some really desperate housewives we have here. Hope it helps.

And one more tip. Please do not buy the computer. And if you do then do not invite over any sim to your home. They just wont stop playing the SIMS game on the computer. Guess the sims do really behave like real people….

To prevent crashing, re-boot your ipod regularly.
Do this by holding down the "power" button for ten seconds, then sliding to power off, and then connecting your ipod to a power source.

What i found that helps is that when you are barely "friends," keep hitting on them, flirting, tender embraces, and flirty joking. This will start a budding romance. You have to develop a relationship with another sim. First is acquaintences then friends then good friends then dating then partners. I think the woohoo choice comes in at the partners stage. I'm pretty sure you can slap anyone you insult though. lol

well the budding romance thing- i was totally having the same problem and i figured it out. the minute you meet any person, use all romantic actions varied a bit and i PROMISE you you will have a budded romance in about 5 minutes, then date then partner and then propose marriage and then get married. it doesnt take long AT ALL.

I've been fishing forever and I'm at level 5 but I can't ever find a catfish. It's on my wish list but I am pulling in Tunas, Salmon, Snappers, Trout but no Catfish. Am I doing something wrong? Kia hasn't asked me for one either. Does she have to ask me before I can catch one? Where do you fish for catfish?

I've been fishing forever and I'm at level 5 but I can't ever find a catfish. It's on my wish list but I am pulling in Tunas, Salmon, Snappers, Trout but no Catfish. Am I doing something wrong? Kia hasn't asked me for one either. Does she have to ask me before I can catch one? Where do you fish for catfish?

I found that to start a budding relationship you have to just keep flirting and embracing the person without doing any other actions in between for them to be distracted by.

You are probably missing some ingredients. To check what ingredients you need, go to your inventory. scroll over ham and eggs (or whatever recipie (and select. It will have a list of ingredients and how much you need of each. If it still doesnt wrk you can live on eating snacks from the fridge or eat food from the same place you buy recipies.

You need money to upgrade I think the first is $1000 and the second is $2500. After you upgrade your house go to the hobby shop and get a watering can and seeds for what you want to grow. Then go home and tap on the brown patch of dirt and you will see the option to "plant" come up. You can only upgrade your house twice

you save up $1000, upgrade your house where you buy, sell, and move your furniture, then you have a garden on the side of your house, and then you can buy seeds, fertilizer, and a watering can at the hobby shop.

I get the same problem. Havent figured out how to solve the goals thing. With the bookshelf thing, maybe just try to move the location of the shelf. Had the same thing happen to me once and i moved it to another wall and my guy was able to get his book.

Buy the ingrediants for the meal, also buy the recipe so you know what to get. (you can purchase recipes via the bistro) To cook you tap on the pots and shake your iTouch/iPhone. And when another pot goes red you tap that pot, and shake the iTouch/iPhone… have to be quick though.

first click on the person and go on “be rude”. Then choose one (my favourite is argue)! After you have done this your Sim will argue with another Sim (this will offend the other Sim)! Then go on be rude again then go on slap (if you slap Ruth, she’ll slap you instantly)!

Yes, It is under romance. You have to have at least a 'Budding Love' in order to 'Woo Hoo'.

yes..just keep choosing positive things to do with them….like chatting about different hobbies, complimenting them, make them laugh etc… and it'll eventually change from Nemesis to enemy and so on…and if you keep going…eventually you'll see the friends meter pop up.

I know a great cheat. It’s so easy to get simoleons this way. Go to the help and about section while you r playing, scroll down and bring up the gardening tips page, then shake ur iPhone or ipodtouch
