Planet Pete – New gaming concept for iPhone and iPod touch
Hamburg, Germany – nudge GmbH today is pleased to announce the release and immediate availability of Planet Pete 1.0, its new gaming title for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. Pete is traveling in space in order to rescue little turtles and fight against evil aliens. With its unique one-touch controle, the new iPhone game “Planet Pete” features a completely new game concept. A tap of the finger let’s Pete jump from planet to planet, gain momentum, and show what a talented hero he is. The game may be played in the Arcade or Campaign Mode, featuring 72 levels. Each week the game treats the player to a new level.
In a nutshell:
* New game app: Planet Pete
* Casual game for the iPhone and iPod touch
* Completely new game concept: one-touch-control
* Independent Arcade Mode
* Campaign Mode featuring 72 levels
* Supports Game Center (High Score and Achievements)
* A new, complimentary level each week
* Price: $ 0.99
In the casual game “Planet Pete” the turtle puts on his diving mask – which is quite sufficient to be protected against the dangers lurking in space – and off it goes for some fun in the universe.
The Arcade Mode of the new iPhone game is perfect for getting familiar with the unique controls of the space turtle. By the way, right after the start the turtle is immediately being captured in the vacuum of the space gravity field of a planet. Now Pete is circling around the planet, going faster and faster.
By simply tapping on the screen, the player uses the momentum, in order to let Pete lift off the planet. Right away he whizzes through space in a targeted manner and collects lots of stars to accumulate points, until the gravity of another planet strikes again and captures Pete. In this manner he is being thrown from one celestial body to another. If his movement is smooth and he performs a really soft landing on one of the targeted planets, the turtle gains more and more speed with each jump – until the lightspeed mode is being activated, which turns on a score multiplier.
In the Arcade Mode the player has only two minutes to score. A difficult task, since several obstacles and all kinds of electrical barriers, that are floating around in space, will complicate Pete’s life. The goal is to beat one’s own high score again and again and also to compete against other players worldwide.
Planet Pete: Campaign-Modus features 72 levels in 2 worlds. Even more variety is provided in the separate campaign mode. The two game worlds “Outer Space” and “Dimension X” feature 72 levels. In the future additional worlds will be available via updates.
In each level Pete has to solve a specific task. Sometimes he has to rescue little turtles, while at other times he has to give nasty aliens a good kick in the butt. The degree of difficulty increases with each level. More and more laser barriers, resisting aliens, various traps and other adversities are threatening Pete’s life – not to mention that the aliens would really like to turn Pete into delicious turtle soup. Occasionally special items, such as keycards, have to be collected in order to eliminate annoying energy grids. It’s a good thing Pete is able to use power-ups every so often in order to hold his own on the course.
Anyone that has mastered all the offered levels may look forward to more. Every week “Planet Pete” downloads a new bonus level from the Internet – this way the fun never ends.
Jorg Salamon of the nudge GmbH: “Planet Pete” does not imitate any known game. It is a completely independent, new development featuring a special on-touch-control.”
