Three Quarters of a Million People Went Barefoot in The Sims FreePlay
In support of TOMS annual One Day Without Shoes on April 10, 2012, EA gave consumers the option to virtually remove their Sims shoes in game to raise awareness for the millions of children without proper footwear around the world.
Sims fans worldwide kicked off their shoes in The Sims FreePlay and EA Mobile saw an awe inspiring response from users. Over 750,000 players opted into the program within a 24 hour time period trading their Sims shoes for bare feet for the day. To put it in perspective, this is almost half the number of people that live in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the country that inspired Blake Mycoskie to found TOMS. EA employees worldwide supported this cause with campus events and shoeless meetings, in addition to their barefoot Sims. Through this integration, EA Mobile saw an overwhelming number of gamers share their participation through social media networks extending the reach of this campaign.
The Sims FreePlay is now available for free at the App Store and on Google Play.
