Can’t go to concerts or clubs as often as you like? Now you can grab a permanent ticket to some of the best clubs, theaters, and concert halls in the United States. StagePass by Bitcount is your sweet entry pass. The best spots at your choice venues have already been reserved for you, so jump right in and listen to your favorite artists any time, anywhere.

Review
StagePass is a revolutionary music player for the iPhone and iPod Touch that recreates your listening experience at over 30 concert venues across the United States. Examples include 3 Kings Tavern (Denver, CO), Emo’s (Austin, TX), Bossanova Ballroom (Portland, OR), Firebird (St Louis, MO), Music Hall of Williamsburg (Brooklyn, NY), The Warfield Theater (San Francisco, CA).

Just like any other music player, you can select your songs by artists, albums, or playlists (called Setlists). While the venue you pick will largely affect the tonal qualities of your music, you can further customize your sound using the app’s equalizer. Each venue indeed sounds distinctively different. Some may seem to make your music softer, more distant. Others may make your music seem more amplified from the left or right. Because of these effects, you will probably get the best listening experience from using headphones. I have no idea how accurately StagePass has reproduced this listening experience, but it sure does sound good.

No one else has made an iOS app like StagePass, and I have nothing but praise for it. Since the app is brand new, it does have some room to grow. Aside from adding more venues (which the developers have already promised), it would be good if a favorites feature could be added, so we can quickly jump to a list of our best-loved venues. Personally, I wish the setlist selection were not hidden under “More” because I typically select my music from playlists rather than by artists or albums. And lastly, if StagePass could go one step further and let us make our own setlists on the go, it will definitely make for the ultimate concert. As it is though, StagePass is your sure ticket to an incredible listening experience.

Recommendation
StagePass is very highly recommended to anyone who loves listening to music—and I can’t think of why anyone wouldn’t. This music app for the iPhone and iPod Touch is currently available in the App Store for $2.99. That’s a lot cheaper than the average concert ticket. Get this if you want to go club/theater/concert hall hopping without actually having to drive out.
