Speed Escape: Chamber for iPhone Review

By on Sep 2, 2011 at 5:44 pm

Speed Escape is a truly intriguing game with a premise that is guaranteed to suck players in from the get-go.  The lone character has been kidnapped for a ransom which will be delivered—the problem is, the kidnappers won’t be holding up their end of the bargain.  In order to help their character escape certain death, players will have to figure out a series of mysterious puzzles.

Review:

Finding each piece to each puzzle is critical to success.  This can be mildly frustrating when an apparent glitch in translation makes unraveling a mystery harder than it has to be, but this is supposed to be fixed in coming releases.  It’s a good thing, because this game is a fantastic change of pace and promises to be popular if its minor flaws are remedied.

What I’d really like to see in terms of improvement, however, is more game-play!  Speed Escape is so instantly intriguing and immersive that I almost dreaded beating it.  A big (or huge) expansion would be great; there’s so much that can be done with this concept.

The thrill of Speed Escape is, as the name hints, the tension created by the need to get out of there now.  Puzzles themselves may not seem to be the way to create serious tension, at first glance, but this game has all of the breathless anticipation of defusing a bomb.  Failing to solve a puzzle can be fatal, after all.

Recommendation:

Calling all amateur sleuths, puzzle lovers, and psychological thrill-seekers: Speed Escape offers the depth, adrenaline rush, substance, and challenge you’re looking for in a game. Speed Escape: Chamber is available at the App Store for $0.99. Get it, play it, love it, and hound the developers for more of the same!

  • Kohzo28

Anybody know how to turn off the alarm ?

  • Symmie

I figured out the alarm. You have to do a long tap on the right hand side of the cd player to turn it on then swipe the lid to open and get the cd. Use the cd on the alarm to turn it off.

    • Morgan

What do you mean by long tap? Immtrying but it’s not working?:(

  • TheWOWfactor

Get the remote from behind the tv. There is a battery in it. Put the battery in the cd player. As far as this long tap goes on the right side of it goes, I have no idea. Anyone wanna help? And the alarm too Thanks

    • Jeez

You need to have 2 batteries.  Place it in the cd player, tap the power on (right side of the player). It will turn green if on.  Swipe the cd from bottom to up to open it then get the cd inside.  Insert the cd to the alarm to deactivate it.

      • Theparasite
