Conde Nast Idea Flight releases Version 1.1 – Launches Idea Flight Enterprise for Educational Community
After only two months Idea Flight has had nearly 85,000 downloads and today Conde Nast Idea Flight is releasing version 1.1 which now includes notes, optional security and flexible orientation.
Also new today is the launch of Idea Flight Enterprise. Available on the app store as well as within Apple’s Volume Purchasing Program (VPP), Enterprise was created to serve an unexpected demand from the educational sector. Individual teachers, representatives of districts and private universities have inquired about how they can bring Idea Flight to their classrooms. With that in mind, Conde Nast will begin a public beta in fall to determine how to update Idea Flight Enterprise to best serve the needs of this unique community.
Idea Flight and Idea Flight Enterprise are the first examples of Condé Nast’s foray into digital products for consumers independent of its existing brands. The press release appears below:
New York, N.Y. – August 23, 2011 –Idea Flight, Condé Nast’s new app that makes sharing ideas, presentations, and designs uniquely engaging on the iPad, released version 1.1 today. Since its launch in June, the app boasts nearly 85,000 downloads and was named Gizmodo’s “App of the Day”. Idea Flight is quickly becoming a must-have utility for in-person presentations.
In addition, in response to tremendous interest from technology instructors, math and grade school teachers to professionals from educational districts and representatives of private universities, Condé Nast has launched “Idea Flight Enterprise”, giving educators the opportunity to purchase the app in volume through the App Store Volume Purchase Program at (https://volume.itunes.apple.com/us/store/ ). The cost for the app is a one-time $9.99 and that includes the current in-app purchase (Pilot upgrade) from version 1.1 and any future in-app purchases.
Idea Flight 1.1 offers the following enhancements at no additional cost:
- Notes: Pilots and passengers are now able to jot down notes mid-presentation, saving and accessing them at any time.
- Boarding Passcode: For sensitive meetings, pilots can set a Boarding Passcode to their presentation, controlling attendee access.
- Pinch, Zoom & Rotate: Pilots can adjust size, scale and orientation and present in both landscape or portrait mode.
“We are very pleased with Idea Flight’s success since its launch and delighted by the education sector’s interest in the app,” said Bob Sauerberg, president of Condé Nast. “One of our objectives has been to develop new revenue streams by creating digital products independent of our existing brands, and Idea Flight has gotten us off to a great start.”
About Idea Flight
Idea Flight enables one person (the Pilot) to control up to 15 users’ (the Passengers) iPad screens remotely during a presentation, keeping everyone on the same page as the Pilot, requiring only a Wi-Fi connection or Bluetooth, and a PDF of the content. The pilot determines the pace of the presentation, which, if unlocked, the passengers can later peruse at their leisure. Content files can be accessed via Dropbox, iTunes File Sharing, and email. If desired, Pilots can also display a presentation on an external monitor for a larger audience. Anyone with access to an iPad and a wireless connection can be a passenger by simply downloading Idea Flight for free on the Apple App Store. Hosting presentations requires a Pilot to make a one-time $7.99 in-app purchase using their iTunes account. For more information, visit www.ideaflight.comor follow on Twitter @ideaflight.
