Does your kid love colorful cars? If so, he or she may be enchanted with Lightning Was Here: My Puzzle Book by Disney Publishing Worldwide. Your child can follow Lightning McQueen, a bright red car with a cheery smile, as he explores the town of Radiator Springs, which turns out to be a haven for cars.

Lightning Was Here: My Puzzle Book is a universal app for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad based on the animated movie, Cars by Disney/Pixar. It is a short, brightly illustrated book that offers children both a story and a few small puzzles to solve.

The puzzles come in the form of decals to find and three jigsaw puzzles. Two difficulty modes cater to kids of varying ages. The decals are impossible to miss, as they will wiggle about from where they peep out from behind other objects. Even under hard difficulty, the jigsaws are simple, as each picture is divided into only twelve pieces, whether on the iPhone or iPad. You can opt for the app to read the story to your child or you can read the story yourself. You may even record your own voice. By default, you’ll have to tap to flip pages, but you may also set the app to auto-turn pages. On auto-turn mode, however, interactive elements will be disabled.

Lightning Was Here: My Puzzle Book has attractive graphics and animations, together with charming music and sound effects. The narrative voice is also easy to follow. At the end of the book, kids will be able to use the decals they have found to decorate the main car character, Lightning.

Lightning Was Here: My Puzzle Book is especially recommended to children who are fans of the Disney/Pixar animated movie, Cars, as well as its upcoming sequel, Cars 2. This universal book app is currently available from the App Store at $0.99.
