App developers should be grinning right now as Verizon Wireless has just announced that the “iPhone 4 will be available early next month”. This means the world’s largest cell phone carrier will add millions (93M currently) of customers to Apple’s iOS database, which means it should double the profits for current developers.

Quick info: February 3, exisiting customers can pre-order. February 10, available in stores and online. $199 for 16GB iPhone 4, $299 for 32GB iPhone 4, mobile hotspot included with up to 5 devices.

The iPhone 4 for Verizon is based on the CDMA network via 3G (EV-DO) (not LTE though “4G”, which is faster), meaning if you want to switch from AT&T to Verizon you WILL need to purchase an entirely new phone (AT&T is based off of the GSM network).

Dan Dee of Verizon Wireless commented on their network, stating “iPhone 4 is going to run on our network… network capacity — we have advanced the capacity and built margin into it. We’re ready for this launch.

The phone will include all of the iPhone 4’s features from last year (with the exception of a new antenna design), including FaceTime, a Retina Display, HD video, A4 chip, and more…these are things we’ve all heard of. But the big details come down to the rate plans that Verizon plans to offer including an unlimited data plan.

Before those details are released, AT&T customers who want to ditch the death star can face an early termination fee of $325 (currently) for anyone who purchased an iPhone after June 1, 2010. The fee is pro-rated though, meaning you and deduct $10 per month, for each month that you’ve completed your contract and are closer to your end date. However that switch could cost you some money, more than you planned and could possibly save between the plans ($265 if you add it up, with the cost of the iPhone 4).
