App Free 1.3 for iOS – Daily Listings of Paid Games and Apps for Free
Alcala de Henares, Spain – Independent developer Enrique Santos today is pleased to announce App Free 1.3 for iOS, an update to his free Utility app that provides daily listings of App Store apps and games that are free, or reduced in price, for a short time. Rated the number one free Utility in the App Stores of 10+ different countries, all listings are continuously updated for accuracy. App Free allows the user to browse through apps that are free, on sale, or featured. Also available is an AppGame where users gain redeemable AppPoints for trying new apps.
Extremely successful in Europe and the Far East, App Free has over 600,000 free downloads with over 200,000 uses per day, and rapidly growing. As a “Discount Catcher” app, it is a powerful meta-app, an app about other apps. It has achieved its great popularity through word-of-mouth rather than advertising. The app is ad supported via ads from AdMob, but in this context they are completely unobtrusive, and supply relevant and interesting news.
App Free launches and functions in portrait mode, and contains a scrolling list of apps and games, and four buttons on the bottom: Free, On Sale, Featured, and AppGame. Free is the default setting, and the app displays the Free heading and 21 different Categories: All (all games and apps listed), Games, Books, Economy, Education, Entertainment, Finance, Health, Life Style, Medicine, Music, Navigation, News, Photography, Productivity, Reference, Social Networking, Sports, Trips, Utilities, and Weather. On an average day approximately 75 newly listed free apps appear, along with hundreds of games and apps that remain listed from previous days. Touching any category listing, i.e. Games, activates a push transition revealing a scrolling list of free games classified as: New Today, New Yesterday, Two Days Ago, and Older. Each game listing includes the game’s icon, full name, normal price, and a Free! button which takes the user to a complete description of the game’s awards and international sales rankings, plus a full description of the game’s premise and features, including screen shots. Selecting the Free! button again, automatically takes the user to the game’s iTunes App Store page where it may be downloaded and installed free.

Touching the On Sale button at the bottom of the screen brings up a scrolling list much like the previous one labeled Free, but this list is entitled On Sale. Again, listings are broken down chronologically, with the newest apps listed first. Normal prices for each item are listed in red with sale prices listed in green. Discounts range from 15% to 75%, and sale prices include inexpensive, mid-priced, as well as expensive iOS apps and games. The Featured button displays only five, special, one-day-only, sale priced items. Finally, the AppGame button displays sale priced items that earn the buyer AppPoints for making the purchase. AppPoints can be saved and redeemed, with further information available on the App Free website.
“Right now there’s a Photography App listed on App Free that has been selling for $9.99 (USD) on the App Store, but can be downloaded today free,” commented developer Enrique Santos. “You never know what kind of bargains and discounts you’ll find on App Free. Spending a few minutes a day could save you some real cash.”
