Pocketbooth Review for iPhone and iPod Touch
Now that cameras have become so mobile and ubiquitous, most of us have little reason to step into a photo booth. With Pocketbooth by Project Box, however, you can slip a small vintage photo booth into your pocket and generate some extra fun with your friends, perhaps at a party. Pose in as many ways as you can think of, and take as many shots as you want!
Pocketbooth is a photography app for the iPhone and iPod Touch that takes snapshots in the style of a 1950’s auto-photo Model 11 photo booth. The app allows you to take shots of others as well as self-portraits.
The app is easy to use and allows you various customizations. You can select either three or four poses per strip, and you are to start posing only when the red light shows (i.e. after you tap the big green “START” button at the bottom of the screen). Once the photos have been taken, the photo effect will be applied, and you’ll be given five options: to email the photostrip, publish it onto Facebook, Tweet it, save it to your camera roll, or send it to your printer via AirPrint (provided your printer is compatible). If you dislike how your snapshots turn out, you can also instantly trash the photostrip. Four photo effects are available in the settings. By default, your photostrip will be processed in black and white. But if you prefer, you can opt for a modern look of color, or give it an antique or sepia finish. You may also choose glossy or matte for the photo “paper”, set a black or white border, and pick the time delay between shots of anywhere from one to five seconds.
Since it won’t cost you any more or less to take digital photos, you can go wild and take as many shots as you and your friends wish. Photo quality will be limited only by your hardware, as well as the extent of your imagination. For the iPhone 4 and 4th generation iPod Touch, the app can activate the flash in your rear-facing camera. You will thus be assured of the best quality prints your device is capable of.
Pocketbooth, which is now available in the App Store for $0.99, is recommended to anyone who enjoys posing in front of the camera, especially with friends.
