Japan’s Softbank to Offer Free iPad with 2-Year Data Plan

Starting on December 3rd, Softbank will offer a free 16G iPad WiFi + 3G unit, when you sign up for their two year data plan. This contract amounts to ¥4,725 or $56 each month for the next two years; a rate that costs $31 more than AT&T’S 2GB rate.

It may seem a bit much but once you do the math and take the $31 and multiply that into 24 months, you’ll end up paying $744 for a $629 unit. In the long run, you’re just losing $115 for a unit that you may not have otherwise been able to afford to buy outright.

Not a bad deal, wouldn’t you say?
