Golden Miner Tips and Review

Golden MinerThe California gold rush of the 1800’s has finally hit the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch with Golden Miner, a mining adventure game where you must dig for precious treasures while avoiding moles, rocks, and other objects along the way in a race against the clock.

Review

Golden Miner currently features 99 levels of gold mining fun across two difficulty levels with various items costing different amounts and strengths to reel them in. Players have 60 seconds to grab as many pieces of gold, diamonds, and secret bags before time runs out. The money earned from your mined treasures can be spent in the prop store, managed by a young seductive woman, where you can choose from bombs, strength water, and lucky clovers. Digging in Golden Miner is not always all fun and games though. There are moles that crawl across the screen and get in your away, along with many large rocks that are not worth hardly anything, making gameplay more difficult (aside from the standard and expert modes). Other features of the game include a global ranking system, automatic saving, and unique background maps.

Golden Miner gameplay is very intuitive and the game’s performance is excellent. The graphics and animations are good as well, and the mining character looks just like Wario from Nintendo’s Super Mario series. The sound track is simple but the menu system’s “clicks” are quite louder and there is no way to adjust it other than turning down the volume all together. However you are given a volume on/off button within the mining area.

Overall, Golden Miner is a fun role playing game (RPG) for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch that offers accuracy, good graphics, and 99 levels of gameplay that are suitable for all ages.

Tips

1. Rocks suck. Be careful not to grab any large rocks while mining. Not only are they heavy and take longer to reel in, but they don’t make you much money either.

2. Watch out for the moles. Just when you think you aimed correctly for that diamond, boom a mole gets in your way. Check your accuracy and timing of the moles before sending out the claws.

3. Dynamite is your friend. If a rock or mole gets in your way, blow them to bits with a stick of dynamite that you purchased in the props store. Always make sure you have one.

Recommendation

I recommend Golden Miner to kids and adults of all ages and to role playing game (RPG) fans. Golden Miner is available for $0.99 or you can try it out for free.
