Exolife for iPhone 4, The First Case Battery for iPhone 4
The iPhone 4′s battery is the best Apple has ever made, but with extreme use it can seem worse then its predecessors. I travel a lot, and I have to be on conference calls(3-way calls) at the airport. Many major airports now have charge stations, but they are limited and most of the time in use. Exogear’s, Exolife is the first battery case for the iPhone 4. Does first always mean better though?
Review
Battery
The iPhone 4′s battery is a 1420MaH, the iPhone 3G(S) had a 1200MaH battery. Apple was able to get much more juice from the battery with it’s A4 Processer, which increased my battery time by 40% (I owned an iPhone 3G). The Exolife sports a 1500MaH battery, which is more than the iPhone 4′s but not necessarily better. I would say the battery of the Exolife is on par with the iPhone 4 because it is lacking a processer to tell it when to turn down the voltage. This is made up for by the extra battery power. The Exolife does work up to what is advertised though, 300 additional standby hours, additional talk time up to 7 hours, additional web time up to 6 hours, additional movie time up to 10 hours, music up to an additional 40 hours. The Exolife’s battery also features ExoSave. ExoSave is a fancy way of saying automatic power down. The technology turns off the Exolife when the battery is not in use. This can come in handy if you are planning to make a conference call later. Overall, the battery can almost double the life of your iPhone battery. The battery is very dependable and is much better than any previous battery cases for the 3G(S).
Protection
What’s the point of having a battery case if it doesn’t protect anything? The Exolife is made out of a polycarbonate hardshell that would protect against minor drops and scratches. People have expressed to me that they are afraid to buy a battery case because if they drop it, the case will explode. The battery companies have worked very hard to make sure this doesn’t happen, and I have never heard of such a problem. Just remember to use common sense when it comes to batteries. The major problem I had with this case was there was not protection for the front. Which means if you drop the case on the screen, you can say good-bye to your iPhone. If Exogear had included a lip this problem could have been solved.
Design
The design of the Exolife is fantastic! ExoGear has covered most of the needs consumers would need. The Exolife took Antenna gate (the apple signal problem with the iPhone 4) and made it into business. The fancy name, ExoClear means that the case eliminates interference with signal.
The Exolife also comes with ExoSync, a way for you to sync with iTunes. Some people who dock there iPhones might have a problem, this is because the Exolife does not provide access to the 30-pin dock connecter. Assembly of the case is relatively easy. Disassembly is a little more complicated because the case is so secure, but I take that as a good thing! The Exolife also comes with a built-in battery meter for the most accurate results.
Verdict
Exogear’s, Exolife is a top notch battery case for the iPhone 4. It holds the title of the first iPhone 4 battery case and is one of the best. It provides an excellent battery power, but does not offer screen protection. The Exolife is available from Exogear for $89.95, which could be worth the cost.
Recommendation
I strongly recommend this case for hardcore gamers, businessmen, and addicts. It can be ideal for anyone because the iPhone’s battery is not infinite and can die at any minute(with prior warning).
