YetisportsDeveloped by Root9 Medialab GMBH, Yetisports for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch brings back the popular Yeti versus Penguin battle originally played on the Mac & PC.

There is a spin to this iPhone version, allowing the Penguin to actually fly through the air, a feature that is not found in the classic versions.

Review

The object of Yetisports is simple: Tap the screen once for the Penguin to jump and then whack him at the right time with the Yeti’s club. There are 9 different levels of difficulty and 27 stages throughout the game with all new levels of gameplay. An added feature of the iPhone and iPod version is the ability to control the Penguin as he fly’s through the air using the accelerometer. Controlling  the Penguin in mid flight is easy and collecting the bonus items are a plus. The game also features a classic mode where the only goal is to glide further than previous attempts without flying.

The game’s graphics are excellent with three dimensional figures and the animations are very smooth. The sound track is also good and reflects the iPhone’s volume and silence all controls.

Overall, Yetisports for the iPhone and iPod Touch is a perfect re-make of the classic Yeti versus Penguin series found on the Mac & PC platforms with great graphics and new features.

Tips

1. Watch your hand-eye coordination. In order to whack the Penguin the furthest distance possible, make sure you have very precise hand-eye coordination and strike the Penguin at the right time.

2. Shake to restart. You can shake the iPhone while the Penguin is flying in order to restart the level.

3. Need to pause? Hold the iPhone or iPod Touch flat in order to pause the game.

Recommendation

I recommend Yetisports for both children and adults of all ages and classic Yeti vs Penguin fans from the Mac and PC. Yetisports sells for $2.99.
