Chess, a  long, drawn out and boring, not this game! Lunar chess is a game of attrition and position, of challenge and strategy. Set in a colorful escape of blues and reds, this game will have you on your toes. Not your daddy’s game of chess!

Review

Lunar Chess is a fun, new and difficult board game based off of the traditional game of chess. The differences between the futuristic Lunar Chess and everyday chess is you play with a smaller board and Lunar Chess offers much quicker game play. In Lunar Chess, the pieces on your side of the game board are always yours, so if you opponent moves their piece to your side it is now yours and vice versa . This makes the way the game is played very differently from traditional chess.

This is a two player game, any of which can be players or computers of varying difficulty locally or challenge someone to a two-player game over wifi! The game of strategy and concentration is brought to a whole new level when the rules change!

The graphics are something to be admired. The board and pieces are very futuristic and dimensional. The traditional black and white is replaced with a vivid red and blue, in a crisp clean manner.

the music is techno style but very muted and not at all intrusive. When you take over an opposing players piece it makes the sound of glass breaking, which is kind of fun and something different.

Tips

  1. As always with chess, take your time and plan ahead.
  2. Lunar Chess can be a 4 player game, but on the iPad only.

Recommendations

Lunar Chess is FREE at the App Store. This is a good game for anyone learning to play or wanting a change of pace from regular chess.
