If you’ve ever dreamed of being a secret agent, an important mercenary, or even better a chopper pilot, your wishes have now come true. With the sequel to the heavily played iPhone game, Chopper, you can now do the same things but also so much more. The action classic looks better with its iPhone 4 optimized graphics, feels better, and most definitely plays better! Check out Chopper 2 in the app store!

Review

Just like the first, Chopper 2 is a side-scrolling helicopter game that has you flying from environment to environment rescuing civilians and in the meantime blowing up enemy squads, or the other way around, blowing up enemy squads and rescuing civilians along the way. Tilting your device moves the chopper you fly right and left accordingly, and you can also control its cruising altitude by tilting.

Along the way, you might have to rescue stranded tourists or rid enemies of your area based off of the mission briefing that you’ll encounter at the beginning. Rescuing civilians is done by simple landing relatively near to them, and they will get in the chopper automatically. You can then drop them off at various bases.

Shooting is done very easily with the simple touch of your finger on the screen. Once you do so, the chopper will immediately start firing, you can aim the bullets by dragging your finger up and down on the screen. It’s easy to get the hang of once you play. You can also drop bombs which is done by pressing a single button on the right side of the screen. I can’t think of a better layout for the controls!

The game always holds a challenge for you. The enemies will steadily get more difficult to blow up and get rid of, while the environments might change making it harder to navigate. Also, there are multiple difficulty modes that can be set to your preference.

Chopper 2 introduces something to the table that no other app has done so far. If you own an iPhone and iPad, or and iPod and and iPad, you can sue your smaller device as a controller for the iPad. This is done via bluetooth, and works great especially if you have small hands that cannot fit around the full body of the iPad. Further, you can connect your iPad to your TV and play on that using an iPod or iPhone. It’s great!

The developer, Majic Jungle Software really did a swell job in making the game seem realistic. Instead of 2D environments like the first, Chopper 2 features beautiful 3D-ish environments with stylish background vistas and many moving objects. With the iPhone 4 retina display, the game will never fails to receive your oohs and ahhs!

I cannot really express the amount of time that I have spent playing this. The addictive elements keep you hooked, and the artwork is fantastic. Almost being done with all of the 36 levels, I am looking forward to another sequel!

Recommendation

For a limited time, the game is selling at an introductory price of only $2.99 instead of $4.99. Even for the original price, I totally recommend the game, but for the sale price it’s a no-brainer. The game is the perfect example of a game that will be discussed as a classic!
