‘Hector: Badge of Carnage Ep.1′ App Review for iPhone and iPod Touch
Apple despises explicit content proved by their recent “App Store Clean Out”. Hector: Badge of Carnage Ep.1 really tests the limits and pushes Apple with it’s crude and suggestive content. That’s how it keeps people interested, and I have to say that I’m addicted to this point-and click adventure that is a hell lot of fun!
New developers, Straandlooper took their point and click adventure game, Hector: Badge of Carnage Ep.1 to the next level in terms of suggestive content. It’s a humor filled game that really knows how to keep you occupied and hooked!
In the game, you are desperately needed to handle a terrorist situation. A short intro film will be shown to you in the beginning of the game that shows the story. Basically, a building is on lock-down and many cops are dying while trying to negotiate with the terrorist; that may not be exactly accurate, but it’s something among the lines.
Like any other point-and-click-adventure game, you will need to observe the environment and strategically use the items in it to solve minor problems that will lead up to the major problem.
Characters will be present in some scenes; you can engage in conversation with them using different conversation trees. Talking to them can unlock other things or give you clues on how to find/solve something.
While the gameplay and the artwork are outstanding, the main reason I adore the game is because of the endless humor I get out of the dialogue and actions of Hector. Almost everything he says and does involves something crude or insulting which will have you laughing out loud on the floor every time. The good nature of the game creates a more entertaining playing environment, and I admire the effort the developers took to pack the game with these such comments. Kudos to everything hilarious, the game will manage to keep you hooked for a long time.
The game is full of content from the moment you wake up drunk as Hector in a trashed prison cell, till the moment you do all three of the things that the terrorist wants you to do. Crude comments will put a smile on your face every time, and the realistic/cartoony artwork will add to that pleasure. Overall, the game should take a couple of hours to complete, without a walk through.
Lambert, you’re assistant in the game, can be used as an in game hint system. It will come in handy when you’re stuck in those situations where you are hopelessly tapping everything on screen to figure out what to do.
Hector: Badge of Carnage Ep.1 is a game that physically cannot be missed to iPod and iPhone users. It is puzzling, one of the most funniest games on the app store (and crude), and is packed with point-and-click content. The game comes highly recommended to someone who likes a fun game with tons of humor involved (who doesn’t like that?)
