Bored of many of the brick breaker games on the app store? Orb Catcher puts a twist to your regular game of brick breaker. The game is developed by mappdev.com.

Review

Orb Catcher is one of the most simple pick up and play games on the app store. It is made with no other than, GameSalad. The object of the game is to have as many balls(orbs) fall on to your paddle. They fall down a series of bumps which relay around and will fall anywhere possible. There are two different typs of games. Game A where the paddle automatically moves from left to right and you must tap where you want the orb to fall from. You must hit the goal to receive a point. There is a time limit which tries to keep the game competitive. In Game B the balls(orbs) automatically fall down but you have the option to move the goal left and right manually. Moving the goal is very choppy which decreases from the gameplay. There are also three different levels, easy, normal, and hard. When you change it effects the speed of the ball and how many balls fall.

The graphics of the game are very simple and go for a retro style. I have seen a template like this on GameSalad so it should have not taken too long to develop except for the graphics. I wish there was some kind of worldwide leader board otherwise the app gets very boring.

Overall, Orb Catcher is a very simple game. It does get extremely boring after a few minutes. This is because there is no real competition. The app cost $0.99 in the app store, but there is also a lite(free) version in the app store.

Recommendation

I recommend this app to anyone who wants to try something new.
